The charm of this umbrella is that the different panels at the top end in an elegant point, like a Buddhist temple building. In the early eighteenth century, pagoda-shaped umbrellas and parasols became fashionable in Europe and costume prints from the time show that they were worn by ladies with special walking costumes.
