Chinese dress
Anyone who sees a Chinese dress immediately knows that it is a Chinese dress, you can't miss it. It's very tight, like a hug. That is why there are often significant splits on the side, otherwise you cannot walk in them. The fabric is shiny and richly decorated with images of flowers or dragons. The high collar with a slanted closure is also very recognizable. Often the dress is red – not surprising, because that is a lucky color in China. But you also see them in other colors such as blue or black. Women from China who live in another country wear the dress with pride, showing where they come from. For those in the know: the real name for this dress is qipao or cheongsam. In Chinese you write it like this: 旗袍. But they usually call it Chinese dress or Shanghai dress.
