Perfect example of preppy
The sporty gentlemen in a polo shirt with a tennis jersey wrapped around his shoulders: it is the epitome of preppy. But also a very timeless image, because the tennis jersey (or cricket jersey) still looks exactly like it did a hundred years ago. A white or cream colored cable knit sweater, made of heavy cotton or wool with a deep V-neck. In addition, the sweater has one or more contrasting stripes along the neckline and above the brims. At the beginning of the last century, the tennis jersey was indispensable on the tennis, golf or cricket court. Especially in the thirties, witness the many old photos and vintage fashion illustrations from that time. Today, brands like Lacoste and Ralph Lauren are releasing new versions of this all-time classic.
