Shocking high
Lola Pagola was a Dutch shoe brand that was founded in 1985 by Marijke Bruggink and Marlie Witteveen. Their extravagant collections attracted a lot of publicity and won several prizes. One of their most famous creations was the corset shoe. The design, made of red patent leather with a seven-centimeter heel, caused a sensation in the 1980s. At the time, the shoe was experienced as shocking. The upper of the corset shoe is divided into panels, like a corset, which are emphasized with stitching and the laces are ribbons. The aim was for the shoe to fit the foot perfectly, like a corset around the body. The corset shoe became a classic: every season Lola Pagola released a new variant.
