Pushin and pulling
The Japanese name for the judo suit is judogi. It is made of very strong cotton. And that's a good thing, because the suit gets pulled a lot during a training or competition! The judo suit consists of three parts: a kimono-like jacket (the uwagi), trousers with reinforcements on the knees (the zubon) and the judo belt (the obi). A judogi fits loosely around the body, so you can move easily in it. The color of the belt shows how far the judoka has progressed. A beginner wears a white belt. To obtain the black belt you must be at least sixteen years old and have practiced for many years.
