Chanel N°5
Night and homewear
Only two drops
Who doesn’t know the famous photo on which style icon (and sex symbol) Marilyn Monroe poses with her Chanel N°5 bottle in her hand? The famous black and white portrait was shot in 1955 by photographer Ed Feingersh in New York City. Better advertising for her iconic perfume Gabrielle Chanel could not have wished for. But it got even better. On the frequently asked question what she wore in bed – A pyjama top? A pyjama pants? A night dress? – Monroe replied: ‘Just a few drops of Chanel N°5.’ Recently, fashion house Chanel went back into the archives and stumbled upon an unknown sound fragment of a radio interview, in which the film legend further explains this statement. It will be no surprise that a new perfume campaign was born.
